FIH Hockey Pro League : Sreejesh made India to touch the winning gate

In the fifth match of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023-24 held on Monday at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium, PR Sreejesh left no stone unturned pulling off a thrilling 8-7 shootout win against Spain. India had achieved a bonus point with the help of the conversions of Abhishek, Harmanpreet Singh, Lalit Upadhyay, Raj Kumar Pal, and Sukhjeet Singh. Moreover, Sreejesh made one save in the shootout. 

Jarmanpreet Singh (1) and Abhishek (35) hit a target for India respectively, while Jose Basterra (3) and Borja Lacalle (15) were on the scoresheet for the Spain in meantime. As Jarmanpreet scored an outstanding field goal in the initial time, India had a wonderful start at the beginning. At the termination point of the first quarter, Spain took lead as Borja Lacalle found the back of the net after taking a pass from the skipper of Spain, Marc Miralles from the right flank.

While in the beginning of the second quarter, Indian team tried to surpass the Spains with their continuous efforts. Finally, India attained a PC by doing so. On PC, they capitalized as Abhishek (35) reacted rapidly and fired the ball in back of the net to obtain the score 2-2. And, the score was tied at 2-2 at the third quarter end.
