Ind vs Eng 4th Test: Ravichandran Ashwin defeats Anil Kumble’s All-Time Record

During the second innings of the India vs England 4th Test, Indian spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin has defeated Anil Kumble’s all-time record. Ravichandran, who picked his 500th Test wicket in the 3rd Test in Rajkot, has again created history in the cricket field. When the team India were bowled out for 307, the efficient spinner intensified his race and jolted England at the beginning of the second innings. 

To break Anil Kumble’s 16-year-old feat, Ashwin removed left-handed opener Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope on progressive deliveries. As the Pope scalp was his 351st wicket at home, Ravichandran Ashwin now has the multiple Test wickets in India. With this, he defeated Kumble who had 350 Test wickets in India. With Harbhajan Singh being the best successor with 265 scalps to his name, no other Indian has even 300 Test wickets at home.

Of late, Ravichandran Ashwin attained the milestone of 500 Test wickets in the Rajkot Test, in which he missed out on a day of action because of a family emergency but travelled back to rejoin the team India. Finally, Ashwin has become the 2nd Indian and 9th overall to take more than 500 wickets in the longest format of the match.

1. Ravichandran Ashwin – 351 wickets (Till his 2nd wicket)

2. Anil Kumble – 350 wickets

3. Harbhajan Singh – 265 wickets

4. Kapil Dev – 219 wickets
