Ind vs Eng: Ravichandran Ashwin quits the ongoing match, here’s the reason

India Squad Test matches between India and England have been progressing at a rapid pace in Rajkot. Amid the tournament, Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin discontinued from the ongoing 3rd Test on Friday, after getting informed of his mother’s ill-health. He quit the match just after becoming the Indian second spinner ever after Anil Kumble to pick up 500 Test wickets.

As a consequence, the Indian Cricket Board solicited all to take cognizance of the star player’s reclusion. Over and above that, the Cricket Board did not disclose the absolute reason for Ashwin’s discontinuation.

In front of the media, the BCCI pronounced, “Ravichandran Ashwin has quit from the Test squad, effective immediately because of
family medical constraints. The Board of Control for Cricket in India and the team completely support
Ashwin in these strenuous times. Also, the BCCI expresses its earnest support to the star cricketer and his family. The BCCI said the health and prosperity of the players and their beloved are of extreme prominence.

“In a release, the BCCI secretary Jay Shah claimed that the Board and the team would progress to furnish any essential aid to Ashwin and would be in touch with him to provide any assistance from them if needed. Team India lauds the understanding and empathy of the fans and media at the time of this sensitive duration.

The unexpected situation faced by Ashwin is raising speculations that the spinner might not take part in the rest of the 2 Test matches too, that are going to be held in Ranchi and Dharmasala soon.
