The tournament was held for 58 days and the BCCI wanted to increase the number of matches, which was not possible in the next edition. According to the ICC order, there should be at least two weeks of rest before the World Cup, and the final match should be held on Sunday, May 19. “We are aware of the issues in the next IPL. There is the England series and then the general elections and the T20 World Cup in June. Currently, the focus is on successfully organizing the ODI World Cup in October this year. We will take a decision on the next IPL in December-January,” a BCCI official said. The IPL has to be completed from March to May. The series against England will end on March 11 and then the IPL tournament has to be scheduled. Before the T20 World Cup, India has to play a series against Sri Lanka.
