The Indian Premiere League 2022 mega-auction was halted unexpectedly today due to a medical emergency involving auctioneer Hugh Edmeades. He abruptly collapsed on-stage and fell down while organizing the event. The incident was happened while making calls for Srilanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.

Then the presenters of Live coverage of the auctions by Star Sports network informed that the auctioneer suffered a health scare and he was under the medical observation. Edmeades, who has been performing the role since 2018 auction, is observed that he has been suffering with low blood pressure. And, this is the reason behind his sudden collapse.
The event has resumed at 3.30 PM, following the lunch break as he is alright now. Hugh Edmeads was appointed by the BCCI, to organize the auction in 2018. He replaced Richard Madley as the auctioneer and has been responsible for conducting the auctions of the tournament. He has over 35 years of experience in organizing auctions. He organized 2500 auctions across the world.
