India fast bowler Mohammed Shami was bestowed with the Arjuna Award on 9th January 2024 by the President of India Droupadi Murmu.  The name of Mohammed Shami was recommended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India after his sensational outing in the ODI World Cup 2023.

Mohammed Shami is one of the most talented pacers to have played for India internationally. His bowling performance in the recently concluded World Cup reflects his pace and swing skills.  He  has always been one of the main bowlers for Team India. 

Shami received the Arjuna Award from the hands of Droupadi Murmu, the first citizen of the country. Sports awards ceremony was held today at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. Shami and other players attended the event. Mohammed Shami was presented with a statue of Arjuna and a certificate of appreciation.

Shami hails from Uttar Pradesh- UP. However, he got tired of the politics of the cricket community there and moved to West Bengal. 

The 33-year-old Shami has so far taken 229 wickets in 64 Tests, 195 wickets in 101 ODIs, 24 wickets in 23 T20 Internationals. He has taken 332 wickets in 88 matches for the country.

He  finished the World Cup 2023 as the best bowler in the tournament, picking up 24 wickets from just  seven matches.
