Yashasvi Jaiswal shatters Virender Sehwag six-hitting record in Tests

Yashasvi Jaiswal continues his top form in Test cricket. He scored a half century in the first innings of the fourth Test against England. Yashasvi, who has already scored two double centuries in this series, easily broke the record set by former India opener Virender Sehwag 16 years ago. Yashasvi Jaiswal has now hit 23 sixes in Test cricket in 2024, overtaking Sehwag’s record of 22 sixes he hit in the year 2008, and Rishabh Pant’s tally in 2022.

Less than 16 years ago, in 2008, Sehwag created the record for most sixes in Tests in a single calendar year on behalf of India. That year, Sehwag hit 22 sixes in 14 Tests.

But recently in 2024, Yashaswi Jaiswal broke Sehwag’s record of 22 sixes in his fifth Test.  Yashaswi achieved this feat in just the fifth Test this year. Rishabh Pant is in the third position with 21 sixes. Pant created this record in 2022.

Next are Rohit Sharma (19 sixes, 2019) and Mayank Agarwal (18 sixes, 2019). In the latest innings, Yashasvi scored 73 runs off 117 balls with 8 fours and a six.

Yashaswi Jaiswal is the most consistent batsman in the series with England. He has already scored two double centuries and two half centuries. He became the third Indian batsman after Virat Kohli and Vinod Kambli to score two double centuries in two consecutive Tests. Yashaswi hit 12 sixes in Rajkot double century
