The World Cup schedule has already been released. On the other hand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear that there will be no change in the upcoming ODI World Cup schedule despite the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) expressing concern over holding consecutive matches in view of security. The local police expressed concern over the security of the matches between New Zealand-Netherlands and Pakistan-Sri Lanka. The Hyderabad Cricket Association later assured the BCCI about security arrangements for the two consecutive matches on October 9 and 10.

However, the BCCI has informed the Hyderabad Cricket Association that rescheduling of the World Cup matches is not possible at this stage. Durga Prasad agreed to hold talks with BCCI. In a statement, he said that they have discussed with BCCI and they have said that it is not possible to change the schedule at the moment, so they have agreed to cooperate.

It seems that Hyderabad Cricket Association officials have discussed with BCCI interim CEO Hemung Amin about the match arrangements. According to the latest developments, the Hyderabad police have promised to make security arrangements for both the New Zealand-Netherlands and Pakistan-Sri Lanka matches. “We understand what BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla has already clarified. We were told that making last minute changes can be challenging. We are trying to make arrangements to conduct the matches systematically.’ HCA said.

An HCA official said that they have held discussions with the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner and he has assured that full security will be provided. As the countdown to the start of the much-awaited 2023 ICC World Cup begins, all eyes are on the teams’ preparations. The World Cup tournament will begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad. Tickets go on sale from August 25.
