2023 ended a memorable year for Team India with a defeat at the hands of South Africa. Team India is  going to play the first Test in the new year with the same team. This match is going to start from Wednesday (January 3) in Cape Town.

Team India has never won a Test series on South African soil. Now they have to win the second Test to at least draw. But before the match, there are no positive aspects to win like that. The Indian team, which has visited the country 8 times so far, has lost seven series. In 2010-11, under Dhoni’s captaincy, they managed to draw the series 1-1.

The Indian team has not won a single match so far in Cape Town where the second Test will be held. At the Newlands Stadium here, India lost three matches and drew two. The Indian team, who played the first Test here in 1992, managed to draw the match. In 1997, they lost by 282 runs. Ten years later, in 2007, when the Test was played here again, it was defeated by 5 wickets.

In 2011, they once again drew a Test match in Cape Town. In 2018, they lost by 72 runs. Last time they toured South Africa in 2022, they lost the Test here by 7 wickets. People like Kohli and Bumrah were in that team. Kohli stepped down from the captaincy after the series defeat.
